Songara or Sonigara or Songira

Songara or Sonigara or Songira is the name of a branch of the Chauhan clan of Agnivanshi Rajputs. They had their seat of power at Jalore in the state of Rajasthan, India. Kanhad Dev Sonigara is perhaps the most famous of the Sonigara rulers of Jalore. 

Ambliara Princely state is a Songara dynasty rajputs in Gujarat establishing state in reign of Mughal Emperoe Aurangzeb in 1619 through maharaj Krishnadasji Sonigara descended of Rani Popadevi of jalore now Ambliara in sabarkantha agency in Gujarat. 

According to the Rajput bards, Chauhan is one of the four Agnikula or 'fire sprung' clans who were created by the Gods in the anali kund or 'fountain of fire' on Mount Abu to fight against the Asuras or demons. Chauhan is also one of the 36 ruling races of the Rajputs. 

Agnikula origin was perpetuated by Raso from the 16th century onwards. Chauhan gotracharya: Samved, Somvansh, Madhyandini Shakha, Gotracharya is used for marriage relationship and has not changed from time immemorial. Chauhans are termed as Agnivanshi khstriyas.
